Our Curriculum

Curriculum  Intent

Our curriculum will engage and inspire learners with the curiosity to enquire and challenge, the ability to problem solve and adapt, and the confidence to communicate their knowledge and skills in an ever changing world.

Our Christian values and the application of the Platt Tools will enable our children to build healthy relationships and support each other to succeed and 'Live life in all its fullness'. (John 10:10)

Knowledge and skills will be systematically mapped out; building cyclically over the journey of a child within the school. This will enable our children to be ready for the next step in their education journey, wherever that may be.

Curriculum Implementation

Our pupils will learn the majority of their work through the Power of Reading scheme. (maths, RE, Music, PE and languages will be taught discretely) Books will guide the learning, immersing our students and filling with excitement to ignite a lust for learning that will stay with them for life. Learning will be taught through a high quality text focus (these can be found on the class pages) and teachers will then link knowledge and skills to develop a wider understanding of the subject with the children. We want children to question the world they live in and make this a better place.

Learners will work with their peers both in their own class and across the school; building relationships and opportunities to share their knowledge. Learners will present their new knowledge and skills regularly, this could be in a presentation, preparing a gallery, film or experience for the community. Families will be invited in regularly to share this experience and celebrate the children's learning.

Our Christian values will be the focus of daily worship within the school. Children will be encourage to take time to reflect on their learning that day and implement kindness, forgiveness and learning in all that they do. Reflection and prayer areas will be accessible around the school so that children can use when they wish. Children will be asked to lead school worship and participate throughout by leading prayers, choosing the focus and leading class worship.

The Platt tools will provide children with the support to be resilient, passionate, risk takers that will enable them to be successful in a world which is unknown to us in the future.

Teachers will develop skills and knowledge progression to ensure that every child leaves Platt C of E school equipped for their secondary choice and beyond.
