Intent
At Platt C of E we want all children to experience a variety of sporting and physical activity throughout their school journey and build a happy and healthy lifestyle for the future.
Implementation
We use a varied approach to Sport and Movement in school in order to help all students move more and enjoy physical health. We use Sportacus coaching to enhance the PE offer we provide, teaching Karate, Golf and Gymnastics. All students have daily movement breaks and at least 2 hours of PE timetabled a week. In both PE and PSHE/RSE we learn about fitness and wellbeing to ensure that children have this understanding from an early age.
We have a variety of playtime activities to enable students to enjoy team and individual sports and this is reviewed termly so that all pupils have the opportunity to share a sport they may love. We have active breaks throughout the day including sensory circuits from trained staff. We are training to become a Muddy Puddle school where we use movement and outdoor space to enhance learning across the curriculum.
After school we offer a variety of in house sports and external sporting opportunities. These are reviewed termly and all children are able to book these classes.
Now that we are in our new school we have larger facilities, including a sports hall, Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and a grass sports pitch where we hope to offer further opportunities for school sport but also community level engagement and tournament hosting.
We encourage competitive sport by linking with local sporting providers and schools to engage in matches and hope that post Covid we will be able to do this again. We believe that competing is very important and that this enables children to participate outside of school with confidence.
Impact
