Year 3

Year 3 Class

In year 3 we are the inventors of the school. We like to invent new things and solutions to make the world in which we live a better place.

Our class teacher is Mrs Toombs and we have lots of help from Mrs Boswell.

This year we will be focussing on some new topics, guided by some lovely new books. The books we will look at are Belonging, Jemmy Button, Into the forest, The wolfs footprints, Pebble in my pocket ad Stone girl bone girl. The long term plan can be found below.

In Y3 we really consolidate all of the Ks1 learning and begin to introduce the Ks2 curriculum. Below are the expectations for y3. We would expect all children to achieve the expected level by the summer term.

Autumn 1

In Year 3 we are reading a book called Belonging by the author Jeannie Baker. The theme is the environment. We will be learning how to draw sketch maps and we will be using atlases and Google Earth to locate the four countries of the U.K as well as Kent and Platt. We will be writing poetry about the wooded area in school and learning how good writers use interesting adjectives and powerful verbs to engage their reader. We will be learning about plants and will be inviting the parents in at the end of our topic to join us in a celebration picnic lunch-weather permitting!
