School Meals

At Platt, freshly prepared and cooked meals are available each day.

The Contract Dining Company are our caterers and they provide delicious meals for pupils. School meals can be ordered and paid for via ParentMail. Please ensure your child chooses their meal with you so that they enjoy and eat up their lunch.

Who is eligible for Free School Meals?

If parents receive any of the following their child may be entitled to receive free school meals:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Children who get any of the above benefits in their own right (ie they get benefits payments directly, instead of through a parent or guardian) can also get free school meals.
  • It is important that all children who qualify for Free School Meals are registered, even if you choose not to take up the offer. Some points to consider are:
  • registering is confidential
  • taking up the meal is recommended but is not compulsory
  • a child may receive additional help as a result of being registered, eg help with the cost of music lessons or school trips
  • registering a child for free school meals will bring more money to their school.

Please ask us, in confidence, if you think you may be entitled. This can be via the office or via email.
