Safeguarding including Online Safety
Safeguarding is our number one priority at our school. We are dedicated to providing a safe environment for our children and staff.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All members of our community (staff, volunteers, governors, parents, families and pupils) have an essential role to play in safeguarding and making sure all children are safe and secure.
If you have any safeguarding concerns or would like to find out about support available for your family, then please contact one of our Safeguarding Leads via the school office on 01732 882596 or email safeguarding@platt.kent.sch.uk
For additional information, our Child Protection Policy and Online Safety Policy are available to download in the policies part of our website.
The NSPCC also has many resources to support parents and offers advice in coping with challenging situations: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/support-for-parents/
Online Safety
In today’s digital world, it is becoming more important to keep ourselves and our children safe when using technology and going online. Often the dangers cannot be seen as clearly as those dangers that pose a risk to us in real life. Keeping up with advances in technology can be difficult, so we have gathered a few resources that may help you:
If you are worried about the way someone has been communicating with you or your child online, you can make a report to Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP)
- The NSPCC have drawn together lots of advice for parents. The information can be found here: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/what-we-do/about-us/partners/nspcc-o2-online-safety-partnership/
- Parents can also contact the free NSPCC Online Safety Helpline with questions about parental controls or concerns about a social network their children are using on 0808 800500
- Parent Zone (parentzone.org.uk) offers information to help parents and carers understand the digital world and raise resilient children.
